For a long time, the reason why the steel plate is hot galvanized is that zinc can form a film with good corrosion resistance on the surface in a small corrosive environment. 1. Chemical corrosion

 

Chemical corrosion is the direct chemical interaction of metals with the surrounding medium. For example, the chemical effect of dry (absolutely anhydrous) gas and non-conductive liquid medium (non-electrolyte) on zinc is called typical chemical corrosion.

 

2. Electrochemical corrosion

 

Electrochemical corrosion refers to the corrosion of metals in humid gases and conductive liquid media (electrolytes) due to the flow of electrons. For example, the corrosion of zinc in acid, alkali, salt solution and seawater and the atmospheric corrosion of zinc in humid air are all electrochemical corrosion. If the atmosphere is not polluted and the concentration of acidic medium is very low, specifically when pH>5.2, the corrosion result may produce insoluble compounds, such as zinc hydroxide (Zn(OH)2), zinc oxide (ZnO) or zinc carbonate (ZnCO3). These corrosion products precipitate in the form of precipitation and form a dense film, which can generally reach a thickness of 8 microns. This film has both sufficient thickness and good adhesion, and is not easily dissolved in water, so it is extremely important to prevent corrosion.

 

If the galvanized layer is not destroyed at all, it can prevent the corrosive medium from contacting the iron surface. In this way, it acts as antiseptic as any other protective layer. It is for some reason that the galvanized layer is damaged, and when the iron surface is exposed to a small part, zinc will be used as the anode of the iron-zinc micro-electrochemistry to protect the iron with electrochemical effect.
